Present Truth??

Hello, I’m Jason DeMars. I am the founder of Present Truth Ministries.

For several years I’ve worked  with the persecuted church, and the focus of the ministry was solely for that purpose.  As you can tell by the name of the ministry, it was not the only purpose I had in my heart.  My desire is to teach and proclaim the present truth, what God is doing today in our world and amongst the church.  It’s not as though I have the corner on the market and am the only one with the present truth.

Hebrews 13:8 states that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”  The “present truth” is not some new “revelation”, but it is going back to the Bible and seeing the biblical teachings for what they really are.  But not only that, it is seeing the power of God work in our lives and ministry now.  Our intent is not to make a new church or denomination, but to point individuals back to the teachings of the apostles, that we would act upon the commands of God in Scripture through faith.

The Spirit of God works in and through people the world over, but never separate from the Bible.  The Holy Spirit flows through and works to prove and manifest the Bible.  It is like electricity and a copper wire.  The Holy Spirit is the electricity and the copper wire is the Bible. The Holy Spirit flows through the Bible, the Word of God.

Our aim and our purpose is to see the Bible as it really is without the filters of denominations, creeds, and traditional assumptions.  Let’s take the Word of God and believe it as it is given through the eyes and heart of God.

We don’t conform the Scripture to our thinking, rather we conform our thinking to the Scriptures.  Jesus said in John 6:63, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”  And the words of Jesus are recorded in a book.  Then when the words in that book are combined with the Holy Spirit, life comes.

We have heard of various teachers saying, “The letter kills but the Spirit gives life.”  When they say this, they speak of the Bible as though it was killing. Read 2 Corinthians 3 for the full context.  When referencing the letter, Paul is speaking of the old covenant.  However, recall that he also says that the commandment was given for life. Romans 7:10, “And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.”  So the law or the letter was ordained to bring life.  We read further in Romans 7.

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Romans 7:11-14

The law in itself does not kill because it is holy and just and good. It is sin that is the problem; sin is what kills.  And we understand from the basic teachings of the Bible that sin kills because the sinner cannot follow the holy, good, and just law of God.  The letter can kill and the letter can bring life depending on the hearer of the letter.  But since the whole world is born with a sinful nature that cannot please God, the letter results in our death.

And the Spirit comes to bring life. The Spirit presents us with the Gospel (WORD), draws our heart to receive the Gospel, and makes us new people, giving us eternal life.  So the issue with the letter killing and the Spirit giving life is not the Bible itself; rather, the issue is our sinfulness and the fact that God has ordained to bring us Life, Eternal Life, through the work of the Holy Spirit.  As Jesus said, his words are spirit and they are life.  But to those that reject his word it is death.  Through the work of the Spirit the letter of the Bible brings life to us.  Through the work of our flesh the letter of the Bible brings death to us.

The Bible is our life, our joy and our peace, our knowledge, our wisdom and our comfort.  Our desire is not to merely talk about the Bible being our final authority, but to practice and live that.

We are working to spread this message throughout the world.  We have a team of ministers working together in a few different countries to do missions work.  If God wills it, we will expand this work.  Our desire is to stand for the present truth, and that can only come as we turn our hearts back to the Bible.  The Bible is the final authority for the church in its doctrine and in its practice.  This is our aim and purpose along with assisting the churches that we work with.

  1. This is very encouraging because it connects us to take all of the word for our love relationship with the bible author, Jesus Christ. I am reminded of David, and how the first positive thing he spoke of in the Psalms was delighting in The Law of the Lord day and night. How could The Law be so enjoyable to one man, when other men detest it? The answer is that he understood the reason of The Law because he knew the author. Just as John Sullivan Dwight wrote in His version of oh Holy Night “His Law is Love, and His Gospel is peace.”
