Behnam Irani Update

As we reported previously, Pastor Behnam Irani of Karaj, Iran, is still suffering from poor health in a 40 x 40 jail cell with 40 other prisoners. Many of these prisoners are murderers, drug addicts and dealers. He has witnessed frequent fights and even murders. He has an untreated bleeding ulcer and his skin is turning a yellowish color as a result.  The Iranian government has denied him access to a doctor so we cannot be sure what exactly the cause of the bleeding ulcer in his intestines is.  We are unsure why the regime has denied him access to a doctor, but we suspect they hope he dies in prison.  An appointment with the doctor was scheduled by the prison and then subsequently cancelled in the spring of 2012.

In his five year prison sentence for crimes against national security, the judge mentions he is guilty of Apostasy.  It is possible he would be tried for this crime as well during this time period so that he can remain in prison after the five years are completed.
