Christ, the Son of the living God

The great revelation that Peter received from the Father in heaven was that Jesus “is the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-17
The Old Testament tells us who Messiah will be when he comes.
Yahweh (the Father) said unto my Lord (Messiah) sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Psalms 110:1
Yahweh in a prophecy through Nathan to David about the Messiah, the seed of David said, “I will be his father, and he shall be my son.” 2 Samuel 7:14
“And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.” Isaiah 11:2.
1. Jesus is Lord not Yahweh (the invisible Spirit), but David’s Lord Messiah – kings were called in the OT ‘my lord the king’
2. He is the Son of Yahweh God
3. the Spirit of Yahweh shall rest upon him and it will give him wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and the fear of Yahweh

The name Jesus means Yahweh is Salvation. We learn in John 17:11 that Jesus was given the Father’s name. “…keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me…” The name of God has been put in His Son. The covenant name of God to the Jewish nation was Yahweh and now to the New Covenant it is Yahshua – Yahweh is Salvation or as we know in English Jesus.
