The United Nations-Roosevelt’s Legacy of World War 2

FDR paved a very broad path for the rest of the World to join in the war against Hitlers Germany, it began semi-publicly with the Atlantic treaty[1] formed with the British Protectorate and the American President. Then a series of conferences[2] that included Russia brought the east together with the west.  With Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor a move that agitated the American people from their Isolationist stance towards war, Roosevelt was able to capitalize on the situation bringing America into the war along with a coalition of 22 additional nations in which “Each Government pledges itself to employ its full resources, military or economic, against those members of the Tripartite Pact (…) in the struggle for victory over Hitlerism.”[3]  This monument to FDR’s leadership has continued on today and is what we know  as the United Nations. The four allied powers became the permanent members of the Security Council.  Did FDR bring the entire world to the table of war?  The answer seems a pretty certain Yes!
