An all to common story for Christian converts in Pakistan is that their family gives them death threats and they are forced to move to another city and then live in hiding. This is the case with one couple who we have supported. They have a young child that was suffering due to malnutrition. Thankfully our partners on the ground in Pakistan were able to work with us to help this family and even to find a new job for the husband. They are encouraging this young family that is new to the faith.
Pakistan is a country that is not only filled with terrorists, but those same terrorists turn to persecution against Christians. Christians are often unable to find work and if they do it is under circumstances that are extremely dangerous, young women work as servants and are often abused by Muslim families. Christian men often find it difficult to get sufficient employment.
Then there is the case of Asia Bibi who was simply accused of making a derogatory statement towards Mohammad. She is serving an extended prison sentence for blasphemy. It has never been proved that she did say anything against Islam. It was merely an accusation from Muslim co-workers on a farm. This is how easy it is for Muslims to destroy lives and separate families in Pakistan.
Despite this pressure and persecution Christians are continuing in their ministry of the Gospel and working to help educate and preach the Gospel to their fellow Pakistani’s. One of our contacts on the ground in Pakistan is working to educate young women, teaching them how to read so that they can have a future and read the Bible. We ask for your prayers for this work that is taking place in Pakistan.
