Inaccurate Reports About Youcef’s Case

Fox News and various other outlets are reporting that the Supreme Court has ordered a retrial for Youcef Nadarkhani’s case. This news is not accurate. They have misinterpreted what another news agency has reported. Iran’s government controlled media interviewed a member of one branch of their Supreme Court who stated that IF Youcef should appeal a verdict from the lower court the Supreme Court is ready to hear the case.

However, there has been no verdict from the lower court yet. The case has been sent to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. There is no previous precedent, therefore, at this time we don’t know how soon he will issue his legal opinion. When we have information about the case we will make it available as quickly as possible.
