Five Christians to Stand Trial in Shiraz, Iran

Persecution News From Iran

According to Christian Solidarity Worldwide, the five Iranian Christians that we wrote about previously had a hearing on March 10, 2013.  They have been charged with disturbing public order, evangelizing, actions against national security, and Internet activity against the system. Bail was set for them.  For Vahid Roghangir, the bail was set for $200,000; and for Surush Saraie, Eskandar Rezaie, Shahin Lahooti and Massoud Rezaieare bail was set at $80,000.  No additional dates for trial were set and, therefore, it could be days or weeks or months until the trial is complete.

They were arrested during a prayer service they were holding in October 2012.  Upon arrest, they were held in Plaque 100 VEVAK (secret police) prison.  They have since been transferred to Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz, Iran.

Alireza Seyyedian, who was convicted of Crimes Against National Security, because of his Christian faith, is still being held in Evin Prison in Tehran, Iran.  We do not have any news regarding his condition.  He is serving a five-year prison term.

Behnam Irani is being held in Ghezal Hezar prison in Karaj, Iran.  He is a pastor who was convicted of Crimes Against National Security because of his ministry of leading Muslims to Christ.  He is currently suffering from intestinal ulcers and acute pain in his back that is making it difficult for him to stand and walk.  The prison has denied him the medical attention that he needs.

As we reported on social media, there were reports circulating that Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani had been killed.  My source reached out to the family and was able to confirm that Youcef is alive and that he is doing fine.
