As we recently reported on the latest podcast and in social media, Pastor Behnam Irani is suffering from a herniated disc and is unable to walk. He is still in a crowded cell that contains a total of 40 prisoners and has not received any medical attention.
Behnam is serving currently one year into a five year sentence for crimes against the Islamic Order. He is being punished because of his conversion to Christianity from Islam and the ministry he has in leading people to Christ. The Iranian government has violated his basic human right to freedom of religion. The international community is saying very little and doing almost nothing for Behnam.
As Christians the greatest thing we can do is pray. Outside of praying we should raise our voices against this evil committed against our brother. We trust in the sovereignty of God and his purpose in this suffering for Behnam and his family. We have full confidence and faith that God is in control. Even though we trust in God, we also know that he wants us to speak against evil and to support and fight for those who are suffering injustice.
Please ask your government representatives to take action and demand that the government speak out and work with our allies to raise this issue with the Iranian regime. Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s case become very prominent and well known the world over. What you did and what our governments did was used by God to save Youcef’s life! Let’s do this again and work for Brother Benham’s release and that he can be reunited with his family.
