Three Bibles of William Branham?

The Chief Cornerstone and the Mazzaroth

We can never emphasize enough the importance of receiving a true revelation of the Scriptures.  God sent the ministry of this hour for this purpose.

The church is built upon spiritual revelation. Let’s read in Matthew 16:15-18.

He saith unto them, “But whom say ye that I am?  And Simon Peter answered and said, ‘Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.’  And Jesus answered and said unto him, ‘Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’”

Jesus asks his disciples who they think He is.  Peter answers you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answers him first, giving him a blessing and states that my Father revealed this truth to you.  Then he gives him a new name that means little stone.  After that he says, “upon this ROCK”, not little stone, I will build my church.  What is the ROCK that the church is built upon?  The church is not built upon Peter for he is little stone, not a rock.      The church is built upon spiritual revelation from the Father, the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.  Ephesians 1:15-17

Paul does not stop giving thanks for their faith in the Lord Jesus and prays that God would give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.  We can never pray too much for revelation.  Revelation does not take us outside of Scripture, but takes us back to Scripture and gives us, by the power and work of God, a proper understanding of It.  Pray for God to reveal himself and his truth to you.

I want to approach a subject that has been challenged around the world.  Denominations and former followers seek to exploit this subject because they challenge the purpose of God in the life of William Branham.  They purposely misunderstand his words because of their own human agenda to uphold their own thinking.

And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.  2 Peter 2:3

They are using the false ideas that he taught that the Zodiac (in Hebrew the Mazzaroth) and the Great Pyramid of Egypt is the Word of God. This statement implies that they are of equal authority with the Scriptures.  This is a complete lie.  These people distort the truth and are ignorant of what God is doing NOW in the plan of salvation.  Since they have their own agenda they seek to tear down the work of God in our generation.

In a sermon preached on April 18, 1964, Brother Branham stated, “Like, I use this for an illustration. There’s a doctrine called Pyramid Doctrine.  But don’t never get that in your idea, that I believe in pyramid doctrines.  I believe in the Bible. See?  And although I believe the pyramid part played something in it, I believe God wrote three Bibles.  He wrote one in the skies, which is the zodiac.  Anybody knows that. Job spoke of it.  What?  Look at the zodiac.  It starts off with the virgin.  It ends up with Leo the lion.  That’s how He come, first with a virgin. His last, next coming will be Leo the lion, see, coming as the Lion of the tribe of Juda.         And all — then the crossed fishes, of what we’re in now.  The cancer age and everything, it all speaks.  But forget it; see?  That ain’t your Bible. Then the pyramids, exactly how they were drawed, the Headstone was rejected.  Still, that’s not your Bible.”

In the explanations that he offers he does not seek to make a pyramid or a zodiac an authority in the life of a Christian.  He is using them and showing various types that can be found in them.  For the pyramid he speaks of seven steps leading up to the king, the headstone being rejected, and various other types that point us to Jesus Christ.  He said that the pyramid was built by Enoch and that it was made a prophetic “word” to point us to the coming of Christ.

It is a lie and a distortion to try to claim that William Branham taught that the pyramid or the zodiac plays any role in guiding a Christian.  God created the constellations and they can be used to point us to Jesus Christ.  Satan uses them to distort the truth and create a false religion that guides people into death.  God inspired the creation of the Great Pyramid of Giza. In its time it was a prophetic sign that pointed the people to the coming of Christ, but neither of them are an authority in the life of a Christian.

“Ye are built upon the FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, Jesus Christ Himself being the ‘CHIEF CORNER-STONE’; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an ‘HOLY TEMPLE’ in the Lord; in whom ye also are builded together, for an ‘HABITATION OF GOD’ through the Spirit.”   Ephesians 2:21-22

In this verse we can see a foundation and a chief cornerstone.  A pyramid has a chief      cornerstone that goes on top of the structure.  The author of Dispensational Truth and a biblical scholar, Clarence Larkin, wrote, “In the midst of Egypt, on the west side of the River Nile, almost opposite Cairo and a short distance north of ancient Memphis, stands the only remaining one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” – “THE GREAT PYRAMID.”  Of the many pyramids of Egypt, it was the first built and the largest of them all and served as a pattern for the others.  It was not built for a Tomb, as were the others, but embodies in its construction such a wonderful knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, and Scriptural information as to clearly show that the Architect and Builder was especially endowed with Divine wisdom.”

We could go deeper into this issue, but I want to conclude this discussion on the pyramid by simply stating that there are prophetic types contained in the Great Pyramid of Giza, but we cannot make it an authority in the life of a Christian.  We find our source of truth and our        all-sufficiency in Scripture.  This is precisely what William Branham taught as we read in the above.

The zodiac or constellations is spoken of in the Book of Job.  Most people believe that the zodiac is only in astrology, a part-pagan religion. This assumption is incorrect; the zodiac is also used in astronomy which is a natural science that studies celestial objects such as stars, comets, planets, etc.

The zodiac is used by false religions to predict the future.  However, we understand that God created the signs in the heavens not man. So there is a proper usage for them, though we do not understand much about it.

And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as SIGNS to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the Earth.  And it was so. (Gen. 1:14-15)

The lights in the expanse of the sky are to be for signs to mark seasons and days.  They were created by God for a purpose.

Can you bring forth the constellations [zodiac] in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? [a constellation] Job 38:32 (NIV)

Clearly, the constellations or the zodiac were known at the time of Job and they were used as signs for seasons.  The zodiac is brought forth in its season, and that implies that at the time Job was written there was a season or a time, perhaps, on the calendar that a specific sign in the zodiac was referenced.  In Job 38:32 the LORD is speaking, and thus he (Job) recognizes in His creation of the stars that there is a design and use for them for a specific season.

But the worship of the Zodiac and the pagan practice of soothsaying for guidance from them are condemned by Scripture.

And he deposed the priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to make offerings in the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and the moon and the constellations and all the host of the heavens.               -2 Kings 23:5

The soothsayers or wise men of the Babylonian and Egyptian kingdoms in Scripture tried to predict the future, but often could not do so.  Referring to them instead of God for guidance is condemned by the prophets

Yet, the Scripture does use various heavenly bodies as types and signs that point us to Christ and prophetic events.  Each of us can recall that at the birth of Christ “wise” men (actually magi) used signs in the heavenly bodies to learn that a King was to be born in Bethlehem.  The Magi comes from the Greek “magos” which in turn is derived from magos, an Old Persian word.  Magos refers to the priestly caste of Zoroastrianism.  Even though they were pagans they used the stars to rightly understand prophetic Scripture, and it in turn led them to the Savior, Jesus Christ.  We can also read about heavenly signs spoken of in Revelation 12.

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth.  Revelation 12:1-4a

The sun, moon, and stars are being used as descriptive types to show forth a prophetic reality that will happen in the future.

And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.  2 Peter 1:19

The morning star is another sign in the heavens, and here Peter uses it to speak of the coming of Jesus Christ.  The constellations, used properly, speak of prophetic elements of Scripture and point us to the reality of Jesus Christ.  We look to God and the Scripture for guidance in our lives, not to the signs in the heavens.  Holy Scripture is our final authority. This is precisely what William Branham pointed us to.

If you search through the sermons of Brother Branham you cannot find any reference where he expands on these issues any more than this.  He simply uses them as a type or a figure that points us to Jesus Christ or prophetic events in the plan of salvation.  We can find these types and know they are true because we find them in Scripture, our final authority.

We continue in prayer for you and trust that God will bless you and use you for his eternal purpose in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • I cannot find the following storyteller credible, if you have it on good authority that there were multiple men with similar stories, I’d love to hear about it. Consider:

Then a few nights after that, I was over at Windsor, Ontario. Had fourteen thousand at that meeting there. There was a man in the meeting who thought that that was just a bunch of make-up. He went and got a prayer card in one of the lines, pretending that he was sick and in need. And he went and wrote on the prayer card he had all kinds of diseases and so forth like that. And he come around and give it into the–the man, the prayer line manager. I never see the cards. They take the cards down there. He thought, “I’ll just see what this is all about.”Then when he come in and put that on a prayer card down, he come walking up. I said, “Good evening, sir.”He said, “Howdy do.”And I took a hold of his hand. There was no vibrations. I looked at him; I seen him and two men, standing in a room across a table making up about…I said, “Why would you purpose in your heart to try to deceive somebody?” I said, “God is apt to strike you dead right now.”And he fell down on the floor and begin to screaming to the top of his voice. He said, “God, have mercy on me.”I said, “Why would you do that, friend?”He said, “Brother Branham, I–I thought it was just make-up. I–I–I honestly, is there forgiveness for me?”There was.

Here some time ago when that minister… You was over here at a place just across the river from–in Windsor, Ontario. Was there anybody here was in the Windsor meeting that night when that man come to the platform and? See? I don’t think there is as I see.A man come to the platform, and he–he had a prayer card. And he give it to the ushers. He come up. He come up on the platform. Looked at him, I said, “Sir, there’s nothing wrong with you physically.””Oh, yes, there is,” he said. “Yes, there is.” Said, “Look on my prayer card.”I said, “I don’t know what’s on your prayer card, know what you put on that. But there’s nothing wrong with you.””Oh, I got TB, and I got cancer, and all–all he had…”I said, “I couldn’t tell you that, sir.” I said, “You haven’t got it now. You might have had it down there.”So he turned around and said, “That’s it.” And just at that time the Lord showed a vision.I said, “Why would the devil put in your heart to do something like that?” I said, “You’re a certain kind of a preacher.” And I said, “Last night you set with your wife and a man that’s in this building tonight with a red tie on and a blue suit, and he’s setting right there in the audience. And you set by a little room with a green thing hanging over a table, and you said it was mental telepathy. And you’d write on the prayer card, and the usher would pick up the prayer card and transfer it to me mental telepathy, not thinking of–of the hundreds out there that’s called without prayer cards. And the things that’s predicted that’ll happen weeks and months and years later and never fail.” I said–and I said, “There…”And that man raised up; he said, “Reverend Branham, that’s the truth. I was with him last night and that’s the truth.”And he fell and grabbed my pant’s leg, and he said, “I’m sorry.”I said, “What you put on your prayer card, you have.”And he said, “Oh, pray, pray for me that I…” And he was a preacher. And I said, “I have nothing to do with that. You cursed yourself. So you have what you put on the prayer card.” And screaming, he run from the building. There it was. I don’t know what ever happened.

The night before there there’d been a–a man come which belonged to a certain denomination. He come up there, and he’d wrote on his prayer card, “I have TB, so-and-so,” and all like that. He thought it was a telepathy. So they handed the prayer card to the usher as he come up on the platform. The man come up there and I said, “There’s nothing wrong with you.”He said, “Oh, yes, there is; look on my prayer card.”I said, “I don’t care what the prayer card says. There’s nothing wrong with you.”He said, “Well, look, I’ve got TB, and so-and-so,” like that. “Look on that prayer card.”I said, “I don’t look on that prayer card. I look towards heaven.” See?And he said, “Well, that’s what’s the matter with me.”I said, “Well, maybe… You might’ve had it down there. If you have, you haven’t got it now, because you–it just isn’t there. And he said… I said, “You might’ve got healed down there.”He said, “Uh, huh. That’s what you think. I got healed down there.”I thought, “What’s the matter with this man?” I turned and looked again. There was a vision broke before him. I said, “You deceiver. You belong to a certain church. Last night you set with that man right up there with a red suit on–with a red tie and black suit. And that’s his wife setting right over on this corner, and your wife. And you set by a table that had a green cloth around it, and you made up that you was coming here to do that to prove that this was a mental telepathy.” I said, “The things that you got on your card is upon you.” He died about six weeks after that. Don’t you never do that.

  • Well Jonathan.. Our standard of what is allowable of course starts with the Bible as the basis for determining what God has found acceptable. We find that there are quite a few times where there appear to be several versions of the same story told. Feeding the 5000, The crucifixion and the criminals on the cross, the ressurrection, Pauls conversion etc. That being said if God has set that as an allowable standard, your problem has to do with judging or calibrating your discernment with God’s Word rather than picking out what you view as inconsistencies in William Branham’s Ministry.
I’d be curious what you consider an example of a truly perfect prophet, secular, biblical or other. It would be interesting to have a baseline to go off of.
If there is none that fit the standard you are claiming to be correct then likely your standard is false and you need a bit of a recalibration. Thanks for replying.
