For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?
1 Corinthians 3:5
Here is a chart of denominations. Do you believe these denominations and separations and schisms came from God? Well, many of the movements that created these denominations started with a move of God and then as the move of God went on they organized their movement and formed a denomination. Was this denominational formation created by God? Was God’s intention to bring his church back to the word? Or was it for them to form another church government?
God raised up Luther, Knox, Calvin, Wesley, Whitefield and Pentecostals, but as time went on they formed denominations. God just kept moving on to reveal more of the Scriptures to us.
So God used these movements to accomplish a purpose, but they organized them and created creeds to protect themselves from any deviation from their current doctrine. God’s intent IS to continually teach and reform his church back to the Word of God, but man sees something in the Bible, desires to protect it and organizes around it. This organizing then stops them from moving further and deeper in the Scriptures.
Revelation 17 speaks about Mystery Babylon which was called the Great Whore and Mother of Harlots. The Great Whore is the Roman Catholic Church, but who are the daughters that she is the mother of?
It is clear in this chart she is the mother of all denominations.
Why was Israel considered a prostitute in the Old Testament? She was unfaithful to God and put her trust in other nations and others gods. Denominational systems make people put their trust in the system first above God. How? By enforcing a belief system on top of the Bible that only allows those pastors and members to stay faithful to their teachings.
Many people in these systems are true believers and born again, but these systems are against the word of God.
So,what do you think, do you believe denominations are acceptable and it is perfectly biblical to form a denomination, a hierarchy of management and creedal confessions of faith that limit what pastors and members can teach and believe?
Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;
We are crying out today, come out of these denominations and come into Jesus Christ, the Word of God.
