Is the Seventh Seal open and has it been revealed?
Over the years there has been, and even continue to be, many different ideas about the seals. Some message believers state that the seventh is not opened. Others say that the seventh seal is opened, but not revealed. Then even within those that believe that it is opened there are many different viewpoints. I do not want to open a huge debate upon this subject. I truly believe when we go back to the Bible we can see the absolute reality that Brother William Branham taught us. If we separate it from the Bible and try to piece many quotes together, we will miss it and come up with our own doctrine. Brother Branham always told us to go back to the Bible to see everything properly.
The seventh seal in Revelation 8:1 is silence in heaven for the space of half an hour. There was a holy hush upon them. What a great and magnificent event that was about to take place! A complete secret was about to be revealed. I want to come back to this point regarding the silence of heaven, but before I do, I want to look at the big picture of the seals.
As each seal is opened a vision breaks forth in a mystery form. A white horse, red horse, black horse, a pale horse, souls under the altar, earthquake, darkened sun and blood moon, and then silence in heaven. However, these were all written as prophetic events pointing to the future. If we look more clearly in the Bible, the mystery of the seals is actually to be made known to the saints in the end time.
Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Daniel 12:8-10 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
This is the first indication of a sealed book. Based upon these Scriptures, we understand that it is in the end time that the seals are to be broken and revealed to the people. In verse 10 we find out that the wise will understand what was hidden to Daniel. Therefore, we are given to understand that this seven-sealed book that the Lamb of God is to open was not completed when John saw the vision. It is to be opened in the end time and given forth for a people to understand.
The events of Revelation 5, 6 and 8:1 are all prophetic events. The book of Daniel defines that and shows us that it is the time of the end when the book will be opened and revealed to “the wise.” I want to show the connection of Revelation 10 to the seventh seal. Though there is silence in heaven for the space of half an hour, this is connected to another event. We have already connected the sealing of the book in Daniel to the seven-sealed book in Revelation 5. I want to make more connections here so that you can see more of the reason why Revelation 10 is connected to the seventh seal.
Daniel 10:4-7 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; 5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
Now, we see the appearance of a man clothed in linen who radiated the glory of God. This is none other than the Theophany of God. Let’s look further in Daniel when this man appears again.

Daniel 12:4-7 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. 5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
In verse five Daniel sees two more men on either side of the river. Then one of them spoke to the man clothed in linen. The man clothed in linen is the same one from Daniel 10 that radiates the glory of God. Here the man clothed in linen is standing upon the waters. Then he raises both of his hands to sware an oath that once these things are fulfilled there will be only 3 1/2 years until complete redemption for the Jews is fulfilled. A very similar picture happens in Revelation 10.
Revelation 10:5-6 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
The Mighty Angel of Revelation 10 is the same person as the Man Clothed In Linen of Daniel 12. The book that is sealed in Daniel 12 is the same book that is sealed in Revelation 5. The Man Clothed In Linen makes an oath just like the Mighty Angel makes an oath. The Man Clothed In Linen informs Daniel that the book is sealed. Now, let’s look further at what else the Mighty Angel does.
Revelation 10:1-4 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
Now, we see the Mighty Angel coming down from heaven, and instead of saying this is sealed, he is bringing the open book down to John. So that we understand that this is an end time prophecy we see that when the Mighty Angel begins to preach (cried speaks of preaching with a loud voice), seven thunders utter their voices. They start to speak forth the revelations contained in the open book and John is told not to write what they said, but to seal it up. We understand then that this is the same revelation that was sealed to the time of the end in Daniel 12.
The reason this is connected to the seventh seal is that first the seals must be opened by the Lamb in heaven before the throne of God. However, if they remain this way, then no one will know about it. It must be revealed on earth to a chosen people. As soon as all these seals are opened the Mighty Angel comes down to earth with the open book. If just six seals are opened, he cannot come down. Once the seventh seal is opened the Mighty Angel descends to communicate that message. This is the direct connection to the silence in heaven because such an impressive, anticipated event was about to take place, the revealing of the mystery of the seven-sealed book to the elect of God.
Without the opening of the seals, the redemption plan cannot be completed. You can read more about the details of this biblical truth at the link below.
The Mighty Angel opens his mouth to preach it to John then seven thunders utter their voices. The seven thunders must be messengers of God to communicate this revelation to John since it came to John in an understandable way, even to the point that he was about write down what was spoken. When they speak it thunders forth, and John began to write, but he was told not to write and seal it up. So, if in prophetic form this revelation is made known to a man sent from God, John, then when it is fulfilled it must be made known to a man sent from God. The Bible bears record to that.
Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
We often think of an angel only as a spiritual being, but we find out in the seven churches of Asia that each church had an angel and the message was written to the angel of each church. John was not writing to a spiritual angel. He was writing to the pastor of the church. The meaning of the word angel means a messenger, and it can either be human or angelic. Below is the definition from Strong’s.
From aggello (probably derived from G71; compare G34; to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an “angel”; by implication a pastor: – angel, messenger.
Just as the revelation of the mystery of God was made known to John through the voices of the seven thunders the revelation of the mystery of God is made known through the seventh messenger, a prophetic minister of the Gospel. This open book revelation must come to the elect. Remember what was written in Daniel.
Daniel 12:9-10 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
It is the wise that will understand the revelation of the open book. God always reveals his secrets through his servants the prophets.
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
The seventh messenger of Revelation 10:7 must be the messenger to the seventh church age, and he will be a prophet. For the mystery of God that was hidden will be made know to what Daniel calls the “wise, return” and they will understand it and be purified and made white by it.
The seventh seal is the silence in heaven. The silence in heaven speaks of an unknown event that brought such anticipation that a holy hush came them. The silence was then broken, and the mystery revealed when the Mighty Angel came down with an open book and began to cry out when seven thunders uttered their voices. This has already been fulfilled in the ministry of Brother William Branham. Seven angels came down, and a loud thunder accompanied it that two witnesses heard. The seven angels met him in the desert in Arizona and return to Jeffersonville to preach the revelation of the seven seals. Day by day each of these angels came and met Brother Branham to bring him the revelation of each of the seals. The message has revealed all the mysteries of redemption and made clear the very truths that are recorded in the Bible.
