Youcef Nadarkhani Update – 1/19/2012
You may have seen reports recently that Youcef Nadarkhani was given an offer to be released if he acknowledged Mohammed as a prophet sent from God. They were looking for a way to release him, but also to announce that he has recanted and turned back to Islam. The Iranian government’s ultimate goal is to preserve “the glory of Islam.”
Brother Youcef has not accepted the offer that they have given him. Therefore he remains in prison, for a total of 830 days and counting. He is still waiting for the court to deliver the verdict that by law was to be delivered the first week of October 2011. Then in November they promised the verdict would be delivered in mid-December. Here we are in mid-January and still no verdict. And the court has been given direction from the Iran’s chief jurist, Sadegh Larijani, not to deliver a verdict any time soon.
God has used your prayers, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to preserve brother Youcef in faith and strength. The Lord Jesus has done the same for Youcef’s wife and two sons. God is faithful, we know that he has a purpose in this suffering. Yet, we also know that he works through our prayers. Please continue to lift brother Youcef up in prayer during your personal devotions, church services and prayer meetings. I believe that God will deliver him from prison.
