Day 1 of Brother Youcef’s Trial
The first day of the trial started with the judges of Gilan’s provincial court asking brother Youcef Nadarkhani to recant his faith in Christ and return to Islam. This is a strange move by the judges; they are to hear both sides of the case, not make any demands. Brother Youcef rejected their demand to recant, and his attorney, Mr. Dadkhah, made it clear that their request was illegal according to Iranian and international law. According to Islamic law, there is to be no compulsion of religion. (Quran 2:256) While this argument is true, it puts Mr. Dadkhah in great danger by contradicting the mullahs interpretation of Islam.First, and most importantly, I ask that you pray for Youcef. Secondly, I ask that you make requests to the major news networks to cover this story. Contact CNN, Fox News, etc. and tell them that you want to see this story covered. We need to use every means at our disposal to expose this wickedness.Also, pray for the safety of brother Youcef, his attorney, his family, and all those involved in reporting this case. As you may have heard with the case of Haik Hovespian Mehr, those reporting on the case can be in grave danger. Pray that God would protect them, preserve them, give them strength and boldness to continue doing what God has called them to.
