Brother Amin Pishkar was able to flee the country over the weekend. The Iranian government allowed him to leave, and he is able to avoid his one year sentence to prison. Also, leaving with him was Hamed Pishkar, Amin’s brother, and Hamad’s wife and daughter. Earlier this year Hamed was also arrested and released on bail.
Brother Davoud, an evangelist arrested in January 2010 and released on bail in February, has also fled the country with his daughter and pregnant wife. They are now in Turkey. There are two other families that have fled Iran as well.
God is opening doors for ministry to the Iranian refugees in Turkey, but the situation is difficult. In Turkey refugees are not legally allowed to work. Though many work “off the books,” they are frequently mistreated at their jobs and they are almost never paid a fair wage. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
Pray for the believers inside Iran, that their faith would not fail them. Pray that they remain strong and courageous, and that if they must flee, they would do so under the leadership, wisdom, and peace of the Holy Spirit. “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
For all of us it is very important to put Jesus Christ first before our lives, our family, our work, our finances, and everything. If we do not count all things as loss, we are not truly following Christ Jesus. “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” Philippians 3:8-9 Paul speaks not from the comfort of a palace or a beautiful home, but from a jail cell in Rome. He had lost everything for Jesus Christ and he counted all those things as dung compared to knowing Jesus Christ. We, as Christians, must do the same. Even in the mundane, every day, ordinary life we must count everything as loss that we may win Christ.
